Trenutno živi i radi u Zagrebu.
Zainteresirani mogu pogledati izložbu do 26. srpnja 2009. godine. (I.R.)

Biserka Baretić is a winner of several awards (Vladimir Nazor Award) and has displayed her works within the frameworks of numerous exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. She was born in Zagreb in 1933, where she graduated from the School of Applied Arts and the Art Academy. For a period of time she has been a fellow-worker at the Master Workshop led by Krsto Hegedušić, and since 1961 she has been working as an independent artist. She currently lives and works in Zagreb.

The best outline of the artist’s work has been presented by the writer Sibila Petlevski: «…the art of Biserka Baretić is modern not only for her methods applied within the media framework but mostly for its fierceness, which is a characteristic of the modern art. She isn’t impassive, and only authors who aren’t unexcited can retain the idea of catharsis. The postmodern art is «cool», cold in the processes of inheriting and forwarding styles and methods, while modernism proclaims passion and provides a whole array of intense relationships between the «I» and the material sphere. Gamulin characterized the work of Biserka Baretić as «lyrical expressionism».  But the characteristics of lyricism should’t be sought on the level of the artistic gesture; in some ways lyricism implies gentelness, but the torn matter of Chronos in works of Biserka Baretić doesn’t suggest even the smallest hint of feminine subtlety. Her works evoke the embodiment of the idea of time consuming itself in the cyclical autodestruction and the self-combustion of the world’s matter…»

The exhibition is on until the 26th of July 2009.
