U pulskom Multimedijalnom Centru «Luka» u četvrtak, 6. kolovoza u 20 sati svi zainteresirani imat će priliku prisustvovati razgovoru s alžirskim umjetnikom Ericom Van Hoveom.
On the 6th of August at 8 p.m.the Multimedia Centre «Luka» in Pula will host the interview with the Algerian artist Eric Van Hove. Everyone is invited to participate.
Il 6 agosto, alle ore 20, tutti gli interessati potranno partecipare alla conversazione con l’artista algerino Eric Van Hove, che avrà luogo al CMM Luka.
Van Hove će predstaviti svoju seriju recentnih radova site specific instalacija u Senegalu, Kostarici, Japanu, Iranu, Madagaskaru i Egiptu.
«Svaki objekt koristi se određenim brojem prošlih radova ili intervencija, od kojih su neki nedovršeni ili neprikazani, kao temeljem za predstavljanje ideja i razmatranja koje dobivaju veći značaj pripovijedanjem.
Možda je u ovom slučaju suvremeni umjetnik – putnik donekle nalik japanskom kamishibaiju koji je između dva svjetska rata, pripovijedao razne priče sa svojeg putujućeg bicikla uz pomoć oslikanih ploča.» – piše u katalogu.
Uslijedit će razgovor o uporabi šireg (inozemnog) javnog prostora namijenjenog umjetničkim intervencijama s ciljem razmatranja određenih ideja poput, ideje o nepripadnosti određenoj državi ili o životu izvan vlastite države kako bi se pokazalo da rad u takvim prostorima služi kao svojevrsni katalizator u bavljenju problemima današnjice.
Autor će prikazati i video uradak («Abreaction series») snimljen tijekom Biennala u Šangaju 2004. godine, a prezentirat će i novi projekt «Off the record», kojim je umjetnik, provaljujući u novopostavljeni sistem otvaranja ormarića putem mobilnog telefona u Tokiju, stvorio kratkotrajnu taktičku umjetničku platformu.
Eric Van Hove rođen je u Alžiru 1975. U 12 godini preselio je s roditeljima u njihovu rodnu Belgiju (Brisel) gdje je završio srednju grafičku školu. Ima magisterij iz tradicionalne japanske kaligrafije pri «Likovnoj akademiji Tokyo Geidai». Na istom Sveučilištu završava i doktorski studij. Živi i radi na relaciji Europa, Japan, Afrika.

Van Hove will present a series of his recent works and site specific installations in Senegal, Costa Rica, Japan, Iran, Madagascar and Egypt.
«Every object is using a particular number of older works and interventions, some of which are unfinished or unexhibited, as a foundation for presenting ideas and considerations which assume a wider meaning through story-telling. Maybe the contemporary artist in this case starts to resemble the Japanese kamishibai, who travelled the country on his bycicle and told different stories using illustrated boards in the years between the two wars.» – says the catalogue.
After the introductory part the event will continue with a conversation about the art installations in the wider (international) space. These works of art have the aim to question certain ideas, such as the idea of not belonging to a country or the notion of life outside one’s own country in order to illustrate that the work in such areas is a catalyst for dealing with modern problems.
The author will present his video «Abreaction series» made during the Shanghai Biennale in 2004 and introduce his new project «Off the record». The artist has broken into a new system of lockers opened by cell-phones and has in this way created a short-term tactical art platform.
Eric Van Hove was born in Algeria and graduated from the School of Graphics in Bruxelles. He has a M.A. in traditional Japanese calligraphy (Tokyo Geidai Art Academy) and is currently finishing his doctorate studies at the same university. Van Hove lives and works in Europe, Japan and Africa.

Van Hove presenterà la serie dei suoi lavori più recenti, le site specific istallazioni esibite nel Senegal, a Costarica, Giappone, Iran, Madagascar e in Egitto.
In questo caso, l’artista assomiglia fino un certo punto al kamishibai giapponese che, tra le due guerre mondiali, viaggiando raccontava le sue storie aiutato da panelli dipinti.
Nella conversazione che seguirà verrà osservato l’uso dello spazio pubblico internazionale, palcoscenico di sviluppo di temi e catalizzatore dei problemi contemporanei quali sentirsi estraneo nella stato in cui si vive oppure vivere fuori dallo stato a cui si appartiene.
L’autore presenterà il video «Abreaction series», registrato nel 2004 durante il Biennale di Shanghai e il progetto «Off the record», registrato a Tokio.
Eric Van Hove è nato nel 1975 in Algeria. A 12 anni si è trasferito con i genitori in Belgio dove ha frequentato la scuola media grafica. Possiede il master di calligrafia tradizionale giapponese, conseguito presso «L’accademia d’arte Tokyo Geidai». Sta per dottorarsi presso la medesima università. Vive e lavora tra Europa, Giappone e Africa.
