U nedjelju, 2. kolovoza, u rovinjskoj crkvi Sv. Franje održat će se koncert američke pijanistice Regine Shamvili. Koncertni repertoar ove glazbenice svjetskoga glasa uključuje djela Roberta Schumann, Frederica Chopina i Mihajla Glinke. Početak klavirskog recitala najavljen je za 21 sat.
On the 2nd of August at 9 p.m. the St. Francis Church in Rovinj will host the concert of the famous American pianist Regina Shamvili. Her repertoire includes works by Robert Schumann, Frederic Chopin and Mikhail Glinka.

Regina Shamvili, pijanistica gruzijskog podrijetla, glazbom se počela baviti u ranom djetinjstvu. Klavir je počela svirati sa samo šest godina, a u desetoj je godini održala svoj prvi nastup s orkestrom. Diplomirala je na Konzervatoriju u Tbilisiju i glasovitom Konzervatoriju Čajkovski u Moskvi, a imala je čast nastupati s mnogim velikim orkestrima u prestižnim koncertnim dvoranama te sudjelovati na brojnim festivalima. Njene su nastupe prenosile televizije diljem bivšeg Sovjetskog Saveza, no njeni su nastupi bili ograničeni granicama tog velikog imperija. Stoga je Regina 1983. godine napustila zemlju i otišla u Sjedinjene Američke Države.
Otada je nastupila u više od 100 zemalja diljem svijeta, a pod pokroviteljstvom UNESCO‑a održala je koncerte u Aziji i Africi. Regina se često pojavljuje na različitim TV postajama, poput CNN‑a i Sky TV‑a (London), a njena je osoba inspirirala brojne televizijske filmove. Vodeći svjetski časopisi poput “Berliner Morgenposta”, “New York Posta” i “Le Quotidien de Paris” proglasili su je jednom od pet vodećih svjetskih pijanista.
U kolovozu 1991. Regina je odgovorila na poziv ruskog predsjednika i održala koncert u Moskvi, koji je popratio CNN. Ubrzo nakon pada komunističkog režima ova je pijanistica održala niz koncerata u zemljama Istočne Europe, a postala je i prva američka umjetnica koja je nastupala i u Izraelu i arapskim zemljama, na objema zaraćenim stranama Bliskog Istoka. Često se vraća u tu regiju u kojoj je smatraju američkom ambasadoricom dobre volje.
Kritičar Martin Bernheimer iz Los Angeles Timesa istaknuo je kako se Shamvili, za razliku od svojih suvremenika, ne boji prepusiti ekspresivnosti izvedbe i romantičnom duhu. Njeni su nastupi izrazi besprijekorne tehnike u službi vrhunske interpretativne širine, originalnosti i dinamične strasti. (I.B.)
Regina Shamvili, pianist of Georgian origin, has been interested in music since the early childhood. She began to play the piano at the age of 6 and at 10 she gave her first orchestral performance. She graduated from both the Tbilisi Conservatory and the famous Tchaikovski Conservatory in Moscow. She had the privilege to perform with all the great orchestras and to appear in prestigious halls and at numerous festivals. Her concerts were televised across the country, but her performances were limited within the borders of the former Soviet Empire. Finally in 1983, Regina left the country for America.
Since then she has performed in more than 100 countries around the world and has given concerts in Asia and Africa, under the auspices of UNESCO. Apart of Shamvili’s frequent appearances on different TV channels, including such stations as CNN and Sky TV of London, she has also been the subject of a number of films for television. The leading world magazines, such as the Berliner Morgenpost, the New York Post and Le Quotidien de Paris have listed her among five best pianists in the world.
In August of 1991, at the invitation of the President of Russia, Regina returned to Moscow for a dramatic performance. The special coverage by CNN of her Moscow event was broadcast throughout the world. Soon after the fall of communism Shamvili launched a series of performances in Eastern Europe. The changing times has also brought her in the Middle East where she became the first American artist appearing on both sides of the conflict in Israel and in Arab countries. She frequently returns to the region to perform and is regarded as the American Ambassador of Good Will.
Martin Bernheimer, critic at the Los Angeles Times stated that Shamvili, unlike many of her contemporaries, does not fear the expressive indulgences of the romantic spirit. He also added that her playing reveals an impeccable technique at the service of extraordinary interpretive breadth, originality and dynamic fervor.
Regina Shamvili, pianista d’origine grusiana, si è interessata alla musica sin da bambina. A sei anni ha iniziato a suonare il pianoforte, a dieci si è esibita per la prima volta con l’orchestra. Si è laureata al Conservatorio di Tbilisi e al Conservatorio Čajkovskij di mosca. Si è esibita con grandi orchestre in numerose sale concertistiche e a molti festival. A causa delle costrizioni sovietiche, nel 1983 si è trasferita negli Stati Uniti.
Da quel momento si è esibita in più di cento paesi del mondo e le prestigiose riviste “Berliner Morgenpost”, “New York Post” e “Le Quotidien de Paris” l’hanno nominata uno dei cinque pianisti più grandi del mondo.
Nell’agosto del 1991, su invito del presidente russo, si è esibita a Mosca. È laprimaartisa americana che si è esibita sia in Israele che nei paesi arabi e ritorna spesso in quelle regioni, in cui viene vista come ambasciatrice americana della buona volontà.
Il critico del Los Angeles Times ha osservato che Shamvili è l’unica pianista contemporanea che non disdegna l’espressività dell’esecuzione e lo spirito romantico. Le sue esecuzioni sono tecnicamente perfette, ampie per quanto riguarda l’interpretazione, l’originalità e la passione dinamica.
