Na bar­ban­skom trka­li­štu «Gradišće» od 21. do 23. kolo­vo­za odr­ža­vat će se tra­di­ci­onal­na mani­fes­ta­ci­ja «Trka na prstenac».

The tra­di­ti­onal event «Tilting at the Ring» will take pla­ce at the Barban race­co­ur­se «Gradišće» from the 21st to the 23rd of August.

Osim pre­dvi­đe­ne utr­ke, unu­tar tri kolo­vo­ška dana odvi­jat će se i bogat kul­tur­no-zabav­ni pro­gram u obli­ku kon­ce­ra­ta i izložbe.

Trka na prste­nac potje­če od sta­re vite­ške igre s kra­ja sedam­na­es­tog sto­lje­ća. Najstariji pos­to­je­ći zapis o trci je iz 1696.

Postanak se vezu­je uz vene­ci­jan­sku obi­telj Loredan, koja je, u želji da u vri­je­me sajam­skih pri­red­bi pri­vu­če što više posje­ti­te­lja, pri­re­đi­va­la tak­va konjič­ka natjecanja.

Na teme­lju povi­jes­nih istra­ži­va­nja dr. Danila Klena, te publi­ka­ci­je prof. Maria Kalčića, stu­den­ti iz Istre okup­lje­ni u klu­bu «Mate Balote» u Zagrebu uz čla­no­ve sport­skog druš­tva Barban i u surad­nji s bar­ban­skim akti­vis­ti­ma te Katedrom Čakavskog sabo­ra, rekons­tru­ira­li su «Trku na prste­nac» i pred­sta­vi­li je 14. kolo­vo­za 1976. na «Istrijadi».

S godi­na­ma trka je pre­ras­la u trod­nev­nu mani­fes­ta­ci­ju pri kojoj je doda­na i «Trka za viti­cu» (subot­nja gene­ral­na pro­ba pri­je glav­nog tur­ni­ra) te raz­li­či­ta sport­ska natje­ca­nja i kul­tur­na događanja.

U proš­los­ti, pobjed­nik ovo­ga natje­ca­nja uz naj­ve­će je počas­ti dobi­vao iznos u visi­ni vri­jed­nos­ti jed­nih svi­le­nih čara­pa i jed­nog sre­br­nog mača.

Danas je ova nagra­da zami­je­nje­na nov­ča­nom te skul­p­tu­rom «Ptica prste­nac» labin­skog kipa­ra Josipa Diminića.

Trka se odr­ža­va sva­ke godi­ne pret­po­s­ljed­njeg viken­da u kolo­vo­zu i svo­jim povi­jes­nim ozra­čjem (tra­di­cij­ske noš­nje, sta­ro oruž­je, kop­lja, svi­ta koja pra­ti konja­ni­ke) te raz­no­li­kom sport­sko-kul­tur­nom ponu­dom priv­la­či velik broj posje­ti­te­lja. (I. R.)

Beside the race, the event will com­pri­se a rich cul­tu­ral pro­gram­me of con­certs and exhibitions.

The «Tilting at the Ring» has its ori­gin in the anci­ent 17th cen­tury chi­val­ro­us game. The oldest writ­ten record of the event dates from the year 1696. The begin­nin­gs of the game are lin­ked to the Venetian family Loredan, who orga­ni­zed this kind of com­pe­ti­ti­ons in order to attract visi­tors to the­ir fair.

Istrian stu­dents of the «Mate Balota» club in Zagreb have recons­truc­ted this tra­di­ti­onal game on the basis of his­to­ri­cal foun­din­gs of pro­fe­ssors Danilo Klen and Mario Kalčić. In coope­ra­ti­on with the Sport Club «Barban», the mem­bers of the «Čakavian Parliament» and other ent­hu­si­as­ts, the stu­dents have rein­tro­du­ced the «Tilting at the Ring» in 1976 wit­hin the fra­mework of the «Istrijada» festival.

Over the years this game has beco­me a three-day fes­ti­val which inclu­des the rehe­ar­sal of the race, dif­fe­rent sport acti­vi­ti­es and cul­tu­ral events.

In the past, the win­ner of the com­pe­ti­ti­on won the hig­hest ack­nowled­g­ment and was awar­ded the mone­tary value of one pair of silk soc­ks and one sil­ver sword. Today the win­ners are awar­ded a mone­tary pri­ze and the scul­p­tu­re «Bird of the Ring» by Josip Diminić, scul­p­tor from Labin.

The com­pe­ti­ti­on takes pla­ce every year on the second-last weekend of the mon­th of August and beca­use of its his­to­ri­cal atmosp­he­re attrac­ts a gre­at num­ber of visitors.
