The third Croatian Illustration Biennale was opened at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery in Zagreb on June 1, 2010 at 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on view until July 18.

This international exhibition is organized by the Klovićevi dvori Gallery with the aim to present the works of illustrators from Croatia and abroad. The author of the professional concept of the exhibition is Koraljka Jurčec Kos, senior curator. The contest gathered works by 206 illustrators from 16 countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Israel, Great Britain, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegowina, France, Serbia, Russia, Bulgaria, Iran, Lithuania and Turkey) and the best works, which are currently displayed, were selected by Frano Dulibić, Ranka Javor, Vesna Kusin, Petar Prelog and Iva Sudec.

Illustrations are grouped into four categories: children’s illustrations, book illustrations, journalistic and advertisement illustrations, and were confined to the 290×220 mm format.

Zvonimir Čačić, the illustrator and designer from Pula, participated at the biennale with three works from the same cycle. His illustrations are front pages of the youth magazine Triska (issues 1,3 and 4), which is published by the Youth Centre Pula. Triska is a free magazine which tackles topics related to the life of young people. Every front page of Triska is designed in the way to convey a message related to a certain topic covered in the magazine or connected to the life of the youth in general. Puki, the mascot of the Youth Centre Pula, is always present on the cover of the magazine and he humorously presents a segment of a topic covered in the magazine. Čačić designed the mascot in 2007, with the aim to make the Centre more attractive among the young population. Since 2007  Puki has appeared in all materials of the Centre. The fact that Čačić’s illustrations were selected to be displayed within the framework of this renowned exhibition is a recognition of the quality of the works and serves as a promotion of the Youth Centre Pula.
