Demo bendovi pokazali što je odlična svirka

Mladi, perspektivni, demo bendovi sinoć su „rasturili“ u Rojcu, kada se u sklopu festivala Media Mediterranea 12 održao njihov koncert. Bilo je mnogo onih koji su došli pružiti podršku ovim istarskim bendovima te ih na taj način ohrabriti na putu prema etabliranim glazbenicima. Nastupilo je šest demo bendova koji su ovih dana završili radionicu snimanja, u organizaciji Marka Bolkovića iz udruge Sonitus. Svi se jednoglasno slažu, da je snimanje demo pjesama prošlo jako dobro, a o organizatorima imaju samo riječi hvale. Rovinjski bend „The Link 20“ dobio je nimalo lak zadatak – „probiti led“ na koncertu kada se publika tek počela okupljati i zagrijavati. Gala concert: Tedi Spalato and Klapa Iskon

On August 26 the Grimani Castle in San Vincenti will host two representatives of Dalmatian songs, within the framework of the series of concerts titled „Stars at the Castle“. On this occasion the audience will have the opportunity to attend a concert of Tedi Spalato and Klapa Iskon. Tedi Spalato, born Tadija Bajić, the singer who does not need special presentation, is one of the best performers of Dalmatian melodies. His music represents a combination of classic Dalmatian songs, chansons, jazz and world music elements. Spalato has cooperated with numerous famous musicians: Gibonni, Oliver Dragojević, Meri Cetinić, Zorica Kondža, Ljupka Dimitrovska, Marijan Ban and Tamara Obrovac. He is the owner of three Porin Awards and the award of the Chanson Festival Šibenik. Klapa Iskon, the unconventional harmony singing group, which accompanied some of the greatest Croatian musicians, will present the best compositions of their genre.

Hip-hop Night

Place: Karlo Rojc Barracks, Pula
Within the framework of Media Mediterranea 12, this Friday in Rojc will be marked by hip-hop music. At 9 p.m. Cannone, the rap band from Pula, will stage a concert in order to promote their latest album „Topnički dnevnik“. Visitors will also hear the following bands: Why Not! (Pula) and DEM Crew (Vodnjan), one of the most popular rap bands. Beside the musical part of the festival, Rojc will host sports events. At 5 p.m. starts the streetball tournament. From 7 p.m. until midnight visitors will also have the opportunity to see interesting graffiti, which were created during the workshop.
„The Garden of Eden by Petar Dolić“

Place: Alvona Gallery, Labin
On July 30, at 9 p.m. the Alvona Gallery in Labin will host the opening of the solo exhibition „The Garden of Eden by Petar Dolić“. The author is a talented sculptor who graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Visual Arts (class of professor Šime Vulas) in 1999. Dolić is a member of the HDLU and HZSU and has presented his works within frameworks of numerous joint exhibition. He has also staged around 20 solo exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. Around ten od his sculptures embellish public spaces and are exhibited in museums. Dolić is a winner of several important awards. This exhibition will present a sculpture in space – a spatial composition made up of several elements.
Opening of Castrum Vallis in Bale

On July 31, at 8.30 p.m. the Ulika Gallery in Bale will host the opening of the 46th edition of the Castrum Vallis exhibition. The exhibition is featuring around 70 authors from Croatia and abroad, who will present their paintings, photographs and art installations. Themes of the exhibition are „Bale“ and „Time of positive changes“. Works were selected by the academic painter Predrag Goll from Slavonski Brod. Castrum Vallis was established in 1964 in Bale on the initiative of Croatian artists: Vasilije Josip Jordan, Dragica Cvek Jordan and Milan Cmelić, who were citizens of Bale at the time. The exhibition is open every day from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. until August 12.
Sepomaia Viva 9 in Umag

Place: Umag
The 9th International Antiquity Festival Sepomaia Viva will be held from August 2 to August 3, 2010, at Liberty Square in Umag. The festival is traditionally held every year in order to provide an insight into the period of antiquity. On this occasion the festival will present ancient clothes, food, dance, music, fights and crafts. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about legionaries, gladiators, dancers, artists who created mosaics and ceramics. Within the framework of the festival there will be opened the exhibition „Revealing hidden secrets“, which will present a selection of the collection of the Museum of the Town of Umag. Replicas and souvenirs will be sold at Mercaturi – the museum fair. Sepomaia Viva will also include Forum vinarium, the presentation of antique wines of the Buje region.
Joss Stone and Solomon Burke at the Arena in Pula

On August 13, at 9.30 p.m. the Arena in Pula will host the concert of Joss Stone, the English soul diva, and the famous singer Solomon Burke („Big Sol“). Joscelyn Eve Stoker, a.k.a. Joss Stone, has started building her soul career as a teenage girls. She became popular thanks to her first album „The Soul Sessions“, which was released in 2003. Joss won the hearts of the public around the world with her second album „Mind, Body & Soul“. Beside soul, Joss sings blues, r’n'b and jazz, and has cooperated with numerous renowned artists, such as: Angie Stone, Betty Wright, Rootsm Raphaela Saadiqa, Smokey Robinson, Jeff Beck, Lauryn Hill, Nas, David Sanborn and James Brown.
Joss will perform with Solomon Burke, who celebrated his 70th birthday this year. Burke is the most popular singer of gospels. He is often called the pioneer of motown, the music genre which marked the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Opening of the 38th Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium in Labin

Place: Dubrova, Labin
On August 1, at 11 a.m. the Amphitheatre Dolac in Dubrova (Labin) will host the opening of the 38th Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium. Ivan Picelj will create the 15th part of the White Road, which will be titled „The White Road in Negative“. It represents the interrelation between the black and the white fields. The form of the painting is a combination of the art philosophy, ethics and esthetics of the entire work of Ivan Picelj in one piece. The Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium forms the park collection with a selection of representative works of Croatian and European contemporary art practice.

Labin Art Republika – izlaganja na otvorenome

Dana 28. srpanja 2010. u sklopu Labin Art Republike, održati će se izlaganja na otvorenom, na lokaciji ispred Gradske galerije Labin i Narodnog muzeja. Izložbe je moguće razgledati svakodnevno od 18:00 do 22:00 sata. Svoje će radove predstaviti Ana Božac, psiholog i art terapeut iz Funtane (slike, ulje i akril na platnu), Tea Gabud, studentica Akademije dramskih umjetnosti iz Zagreba (fotografije), Luka Kedžo, student Akademije dramskih umjetnosti iz Dubrovnika (kolaži), Mario Udženija, student grafičkog fakulteta iz Neuma (crteži i slike, akril na papiru), Hrvoje i Andreja Živko, slikarski par iz Đurđevca (slike).
